MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 20, RIA NOVOSTI - To add up to anti-terrorist measures in transport, police psychologists have been infiltrated, reports the deputy interior minister, Colonel General Alexandre Chekalin.

"This is a new line of training policemen who sound out people's intentions through appearance and line of conduct," said Chekalin.

"This non-lethal weapon is being actively introduced in the underground, at railway terminal and airports," said the deputy minister.

"These are often people in plain clothes who are able, while being in the midst of other people, to spot nervous and inadequately-gesticulating persons whose conduct does not conform to the situation," specified the general.

He added that policemen can check such persons' documents and luggage. "Since some of our agents work in uniform, they are authorised to search people in some cases," added Chekalin.

He noted first positive results in this sphere, adding that they are helpful in revealing general criminal intentions. "This helps expose pickpockets, luggage-thieves and all manner of crooks."
