FIRST INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR "RUSSIAN LANGUAGE OUTSIDE RUSSIA" OPENS IN GERMANY

BERLIN, February 20 (RIA Novosti correspondent Alexander Polotsky) - The first international seminar, "Russian Language Outside Russia", will be held in Germany on February 20-22, the chairman of the Eurolog association (FRG) told RIA Novosti.

Nadezhda Nelipa said that the task of the seminar, organized at the Klausenhof Academy in the small German town of Dingden, not far from the border with the Netherlands, is to make a practical step towards joint efforts and cooperation between Russian language specialists in Western Europe and Russia.

Participants in the meeting - Slav scholars, faculty members of Slavic departments of German universities, and school teachers, from various West European countries - will discuss ways of teaching the Russian language, compare notes on popularizing the Russian language outside Russia, and describe plans for school and youth exchanges and national and international Russian language Olympiads.
