MONEY BASE IN NARROW DEFINITION GROWS OVER WEEK IN RUSSIA

MOSCOW, February 20 (RIA Novosti) - The money base (narrow definition) amounted to 1,422.8 billion rubles as of February 16, 2004, against 1,396.6 billion rubles as of February 9, 2004, reports the press release of the Bank of Russia which RIA Novosti received on Friday. (One dollar = approximately 28.5 rubles.) The money base (narrow definition) includes the bank notes issued by the Bank of Russia (with an account of the remains of money in the cash boxes of credit organizations) and the remains on the accounts of the obligatory reserves of the money attracted by credit organizations in the national currency deposited in the Bank.
