CHECHEN LOCALS HELP DETAIN A MILITANT

GROZNY, February 13 (RIA Novosti) - Locals of the Naursky district of Chechnya have helped detain a militant trained by Arab mercenaries in the Kavkaz camp, runs a report by the regional operational HQ circulated on Friday.

"During the verification of the information provided by local residents, law-enforcers detained a member of an underground gang, resident of the Kalinovskaya village Ruslan Alimov," says the statement.

According to the HQ, the detainee, 28, was an active member of illegal bandit formations and had undergone terrorist training in the Kavkaz camp of Arab mercenaries.

"The inspection of Alimov's house revealed a makeshift explosive device made of five PG-7 cartridges and also a safety fuse and electric detonator," runs the press release.

After the necessary investigative measures, the explosive device was taken to a safe place and destroyed.

The detainee has been handed over to the regional interior affairs department. Investigation is underway.
