MOSCOW, February 11 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili proposes that Russia be less emotional for the sake of more successful development of bilateral relations.

"We will be striving to guide our relations with Russia into the non-confrontational, rational and friendly channel. Any manifestation of impulsivity and excessive emotionality can only damage our relations," Mr. Saakashvili disclosed at his meeting with Russian Premier Mikhail Kasyanov.

The Georgian President said that he had a fruitful and record long discussion with the Russian President.

"Georgia acknowledges that Russia is a great power, but Georgians are also a proud people with its own interests. "We will promote the restoration of our territorial integrity and enhancement of our state," Mr. Saakashvili stressed.

He also stated that Russia is an important country for Georgia in the aspects of economic development and trade. Georgia depends greatly on Russia, in particular on the deliveries of energy supplies, Mr. Saakashvili noted. "I would like to discuss these issues rationally," the Georgian President said.

Russia and Georgia should not form their relations from scratch, since there was close cooperation between the two countries in the years before, Mr. Saakashvili noted.
