MORE AND MORE CACHES WITH AMMUNITION ARE BEING FOUND IN CHECHNYA

GROZNY, February 9, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - A great amount of explosives and ammunition has been found in caches in the Vedensky and Shelkovskoy districts of Chechnya.

The provisional press centre of the Russian Interior Ministry in the North Caucasus reported that a cache was found in the vicinity of the village of Dargo of the Vedensky district which contained 23 shells, ten mines, two kilogrammes of plastit, 24 grenades, electric detonators and rounds to a grenade launcher.

"The militiamen prevented a terrorist act in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny where a strong explosive device was found in the territory of a former kindergarten," reported the press centre. According to the data of the Interior Ministry, the home-made bomb consisted of five shells and 800 grammes of trotyl.

Another cache in the Shelkovskoy district of Chechnya was found by the regional operational headquarters for controlling the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

"The cache in the outskirts of the village of Chervlyenaya contained more than four kilos of trotyl and three grenade launchers," reported the headquarters.
