SPORTSMEN MOURN VICTIMS OF MOSCOW BLAST

MOSCOW, February 6th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - The tragedy in the Moscow underground which claimed the lives of 39 people has emphasised the need for the fight against terrorism and the importance of the Russian sportsmen's initiative to held the forum, World Sport Against International Terrorism, on January 27th.

Olympic champion, Dmitry Svatkovsky, a member of the Supreme and Central Councils of the Sportive Russia Society, and an initiator of the forum, said this to RIA Novosti on Friday.

"All sportsmen are mourning the victims of today's tragedy and expressing condolences to their families," said Svatkovsky. He added, "we should not succumb to those who are trying to infuse fear in us."
