RUSSIAN PRESIDENT TRACKS SITUATION IN MOSCOW METRO

MOSCOW, February 6, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin constantly receives information from the law-enforcement bodies on the work of the rescue measures in the Moscow metro, the Russian President's press-service disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent.

The explosion in the southern part of Moscow occurred this morning in one of the metro train cars moving in the tunnel. According to the recent data, 30 people at least were killed and more than 50 injured.

The metro staff believes the explosion was initiated by a suicide bomber. The law-enforcement bodies still give no possible ver sions on the cause of the explosion.
