The last stage of tests of new parachutes for the Russian army was completed in Khabarovsk (the Russian Far East), the headquarters of the 11th air defence and air force army told RIA Novosti on Friday.

According to information provided by the source, the new rescue parachute and a multipurpose Arbalet parachute were tested on the base of the army centre for surviving in conditions of severe |Far Eastern winter.

Arbalet is meant for the airborne troops and spetsnaz. It is more manoeuvrable both horizontally and vertically which allows it to make more accurate drops in conditions of small sites for landing.

The tests of new parachutes ended successfully. The next stage is to begin their serial production.
