GROZNY, February 5, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- The financier of a bandit group operating in the Grozny district has been detained in Chechnya, the regional operations staff on the control of the antiterrorist operation in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti.
"Valid Dashiyev, 26, wanted by federal police and suspected of organizing the provision of a local bandit group with food and funds, was detained in the village of Dolinsky, Grozny district, yesterday," said a spokesman for the staff.
In his words, information about Dashiyev's whereabouts was provided by local residents.
Dashiyev is also suspected of machinations with compensations granted to the population for the restoration of housing damaged as a result of combat actions.
