TBILISI, February 3 (RIA Novosti) - The European Commission will allocate a grant of 2.5 million euros for implementing a number of projects to rehabilitate the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict with the mediation of the OSCE mission in Georgia. (South Ossetia is a self-proclaimed republic within Georgia where an armed conflict between the ethnic Georgians and Ossetians occurred at the beginning of the 1990s). This is said in the report circulated by the press service of the OSCE mission in Tbilisi on Tuesday.

The memorandum on mutual understanding on implementing the rehabilitation projects in the conflict zone was signed by the Georgian and Ossetian sides in Tskhinvali (the administrative center of South Ossetia) on January 31.

The personnel of the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees' (UNHCR) Office, as well as Georgian and Ossetian experts will participate in the implementation of the projects.
