MINSK, February 2, 2004 (RIA Novosti) -- The Belarussian government has decided to re-open the office of the Russian NTV television channel in Minsk.

According to a source in the company's office, the NTV group will begin work on Monday, after a correspondent has arrived in Minsk.

The NTV correspondents' centre was closed in Minsk by the Belarussian authorities last July after the report on the burial of a well-known Belarussian writer Vasil Bykov by NTV correspondent Pavel Selin. The Belarussian authorities considered the facts shown by the journalist as not corresponding to the reality. Selin was deported from Belarus.

The Belarussian information ministry and the NTV signed an agreement on co-operation in TV broadcasting on January 19, 2004 within the framework of further strengthening union relations and creating a single information environment for Belarus and Russia.
