MOSCOW, JANUARY 30 (RIA NOVOSTI) - The United States believes that Russia should wait for some time before it supplies fuel for the nuclear power plant in Iran until the matter of Tehran's nuclear ambitions clears up. The United States Undersecretary of State John Bolton said so in an interview to the Russian daily Vremya Novostei.

The United States believes that Iran pursues the goal of creating nuclear weapons, he said. This is why we are pressuring Russia in the hope that Russia will not supply fuel to Iran while this question remains on the agenda, Bolton said.

Russia has to wait for some time. During this period we will look into this poignant matter and see what the Iranians' true intentions are, he added.

John Bolton's interview will be published by Vremya Novostei on February 2.

At a press conference in Moscow on Friday, Bolton said that, if Russia joins the non-proliferation initiative of George Bush, this will not stand in the way of its nuclear cooperation in the nuclear sphere.

Bolton said that the Iranian nuclear power project was in discussion at his Friday talks with Alexander Rumyantsev, Minister for the Nuclear Power Industry.
