MOSCOW, January 29 (RIA Novosti correspondent Pyotr Goncharov) - Russia is interested in the soonest resumption of Georgian-Abkhaz political dialogue and their cooperation with the UN Secretary General's special envoy to Georgia (Abkhazia is a self-proclaimed republic in Georgia), Russian Secretary of State, Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Loshchinin told the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper.

"We are ready to cooperate with the conflicting sides and the UN. Under new conditions the sides should solve the existing problems themselves," Loshchinin said.

In particular, Russia is ready to discuss the problems of refugees with Georgia and Abkhazia in the relevant working group.

As a matter of fact, over 60,000 refugees returned to their habitations in Abkhazia's Galsky district, he noted. According to Loshchinin, "this needs legal consolidation and security guarantees." Speaking about the civil police component of the UN mission in Georgia, Valery Loshchinin said that its deployment is implied by the UN Security Council's resolution. However, "Abkhazians are anxious about the attempts to introduce the international administration in the Gali district. Apparently, they should be explained the functions of these international policemen to cause no concern," Loshchinin said.
