TEHERAN, January 28, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Nikolai Terekhov) -- A two-day international conference, Prospects of the Development of Cooperation in the Caspian Sea, has opened in the city of Resht in the north Iranian province of Gilan, said deputy head of the Russian trade mission in Iran Igor Aleshchenko.
"The attention of the participants in the conference, which has been organised by the administration of this Caspian province with the assistance of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, is focussed on trade and economic contacts between the five Caspian countries, ecology, biological resources, fisheries, tourism and Caspian regional cooperation," pointed out Igor Aleshchenko.
According to him, this very important conference is attended by representatives of the interested ministries and government departments, and scientists from the research centres of Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and other countries.
