MOSCOW, JANUARY 27. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT DMITRI PANOVKIN/ -- The declaration of the British Foreign Office's proofs of contacts existing between Chechen militants and Al-Qaeda fully coincides with the relative information many times supplied by the Russian side, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko has told journalists.

He was commenting on the utterances of Denis McSean, the United Kingdom Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, that Chechen extremists maintained close contacts with Afghan terrorist and some foreign terrorists trained in Afghanistan and having contacts with Al-Qaeda then went to war in Chechnya.

The Press and Information Board of the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that Alexander Yakovenko noted that Denis McSean's statement "is yet another proof of the world community's growing understanding of the criminal essence of the illegal armed formations operating in the territory of the Chechen republic and their being a link in the chain of international terrorism".
