RUSSIA BOOSTS GAS PRODUCTION 4% IN 2003

MOSCOW, January 27, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - In 2003, Russia produced 620 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which was up 4.2% compared to 2002, Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko told reporters.

The domestic market consumed 423 billion cubic meters of natural gas, or 2.9% more than in 2002.

Some 190 billion cubic meters were exported, 46.1 billion of which was supplied to Belarus and Ukraine. As compared to 2002, Russia increased its natural gas exports to Belarus and Ukraine by an aggregate of one billion cubic meters, said the deputy prime minister.
