EBRD is close to buy into Vneshtorgbank's equity

DAVOS (Switzerland), 24 January. /RIA Novosti/. On Saturday Russian vice-premier and finance minister Aleksei Kudrin informed RIA Novosti that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was close to buying into the Vneshtorgbank's equity.

On the day before Kudrin had a meeting with Jean Lemierre, President of EBRD in Davos, the site of the World Economic forum.

Kudrin stated that "they discussed development of the banking system, including, among others, further steps of a technical character to complete evaluation of the capital of Vneshtorgbank and entry of EBRD into its capital." He added that "they achieved complete mutual understanding, they considered a number of technical issues and in general were moving closer to such a decision." According to Kudrin, Lemierre positively assessed the present investment climate in Russia.

The vice-premier opined that "both EBRD and other investors would build up their investments into Russia." Presently the Russian government is the largest Vneshtorgbank's shareholder owning 99.9% of the shares.
