According to the law, the Central Election Commission should receive 2-2.5 million signatures of voters, with no more than 50,000 of them collected in one district (Russia has 89 of them).
Previously, the supportive group told RIA Novosti that over 7 million signatures had been gathered in support of Vladimir Putin.
The Central Election Commission has 10 days to check the signatures. In this period, the members of the Central Election Commission will check a random sample of 600,000 signatures. For registration, the number of inauthentic signatures should not exceed 25% of the verified signatures.
