MOSCOW, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow is concerned over information, coming from different sources, about the situation in the Adjar autonomous republic, reports the Russian foreign ministry's press department.

"Attempts by certain extremist forces in Georgia, namely the Kmara organization, to flare up tensions in Adjaria are very dangerous as they may spread over the entire country," says the report.

Whipping up confrontation between the Georgian government and the Adjaria leadership, threats to use force and numerous provocations can entail grave consequences; these events are playing into the hands of those who prefer to sidetrack Georgia from the lines of democracy and law, says the document.

All the matters related to Tbilisi-Batumi contacts should be resolved by a constitutional yardstick, through political dialogue, says the Russian foreign ministry.
