RUSSIA'S ORDER OF FRIENDSHIP AWARD TO WORLD BANK PRESIDENT

NOVO-OGAREVO, JANUARY 20. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded James Wolfensohn, president of the World Bank, with the Order of Friendship.

The Russian president presented the decoration at a meeting on Tuesday.

The order is awarded "for the great contribution to the strengthening of international cooperation", Putin said.

He noted the Russia has been a member and share-holder of the bank since 1992. "Very much has been done by Russia and the World Bank over the last few years", said Putin.

Wolfensohn thanked Putin for the honour accorded him by the decoration.
