NOVO-OGAREVO, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia "will be lightening the debt burden of the poorest countries," Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting with World Bank President James Wolfensohn on Tuesday.
"Russia's contribution into the initiative on the lightening of the tax burden of the poorest countries has become the largest in respect of the national GDP," Vladimir Putin said.
In addition, Russia holds third place in the world in the absolute write-off figures, he noted.
Russia recently wrote off 30 billion dollars, Putin added. We shall be taking further efforts in this sphere, the Russian leader said.
