MOSCOW, JANUARY 16. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Russia is ready to give Kazakhstan help in building up own navy on the Caspian sea, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Friday after talks with his Kazakh colleague Mukhtar Altynbaev.

"I'd like to emphasise that Russia is well aware of the plans of the Republic of Kazakhstan to build up and develop its naval forces in the Caspian", Sergei Ivanov said.

And stressed that Russia is ready to give Astana "practical help by passing it ships, exchanging navigational and hydrographic information and building coastal naval facilities, without which no navy can exist".
