The Russian Information Agency Novosti begins Hotline coverage for Thursday, January 15, 2004.

The Russian government will meet to discuss the following questions: compulsory medical insurance in the Russian Federation; a census in the Russian Federation; and the amount of state securities to be issued in 2004.
A news conference will be held in the Russian Ministry of Justice on the topic: "Professional Education and Scientific Activity in the Criminal-Executive System of the Russian Ministry of Justice."
A briefing will take place in the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Interior Ministry on the topic: "The Activity of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Interior Ministry in 2003." The central data bank for calculating foreign citizens and the Federal Migration Service's direct telephone line will be demonstrated.
State Duma Deputy Mikhail Zadornov will give a news conference in the Russian Information Agency Novosti. He will speak about the perspectives of developing the Russian financial and stock markets in the light of the strengthening of the ruble exchange rate to the dollar, about the consequences of this tendency for the Russian citizens and about the activity of the new State Duma in the sphere of the financial and economic policy.
The National Committee - "The Intellectual Resources of Russia" - will meet in the President Hotel to discuss questions of the fight against intellectual theft and brain drain abroad.
The Moscow City Court will consider the appeal of the ex-head of Yukos, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, in connection with the Basmanny court's decision to extend his detention until March 25, 2004.
A two-day conference will open to discuss the preliminary results of the geological survey in 2003 and the tasks for 2004 (concerning fuel and energy resources).
The delegation from the Chechen Republic, headed by President Ahmad Kadyrov, will start the official part of its visit to Saudi Arabia (January 15-18). Crown Prince Abdallah al Saud invited the delegation to Saudi Arabia.
