RUSSIAN FRONTIER GUARDS ELIMINATE GROUP OF AFGHANI DRUG DEALERS AT TAJIK-AFGHANI BORDER

DUSHANBE, January 8, 2004. /RIA Novosti/ -- In the early hours of January 8th three Afghani drug dealers were killed and one injured in the course of the armed clash with Russian frontier guards at the Tajik-Afghani border.

This night at the sector of the Moscow Frontier Guard detachment, controlled by Russian frontier guards and situated approximately 180 km from Dushanbe, a group of 5 armed border trespassers from Afghanistan was detected, the press-service of the Russian Frontier Guard Group in Tajikistan reported. Russian frontier guards were forced to open fire.

In the course of the inspection of the battle scene one injured trespasser, three corpses of drug dealers, three bags containing heroine and hashish, and one Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammo were found.

Frontier guards continue thorough inspection of the battle scene.

The exact weight of confiscated heroine and hashish will be announced later, the press-service disclosed.
