GROZNY, January 5th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - A cache with more than 2 kg of TNT has been discovered in Chechnya, the local interior ministry has told RIA Novosti.
According to the ministry, the police discovered a large cache of weapons and explosives near the Aiti-Mokhk settlement of the Nozhai-Yurt district.
"55 rounds for grenade launchers, a handmade explosive device, over 2 kg of TNT, six cartridges of the 30-mm calibre and about 1,500 cartridges of various calibre," said a spokesman for the interior ministry. Now the owner of the cache is being established, added the agency's source.
Besides, he said that another large cache had been found and eliminated near the Stepnoye settlement of the Gudermes district as a result of an operative search. The cache contained three grenades, 16 cartridges for grenade launchers, an artillery shell, 600 grams of TNT and 400 7.62-mm cartridges.
