The 18th top-level G20 summit, chaired by India, is taking place in New Delhi on September 9-10, with Russia being represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

On the second day of the G20 summit in the Indian capital, global leaders will continue discussions after making several major announcements to address the "global trust deficit," climate change, and economic issues. The top-level event's second day will also see several bilateral meetings in New Delhi.

The third session of the summit, entitled One Future, will be held at the venue, followed by the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders' Declaration.

Also, world leaders will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat in Delhi.

On Saturday, the G20 leaders adopted the New Delhi Summit Declaration, which garnered a 100% consensus on all development and geopolitical issues.

On Friday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said at a press conference in India that the global financial architecture and the UN Security Council needed structural reforms.

EU, China Seeking to Hold Bilateral Summit Until Year-End - European Council

The European Council said on Sunday that its president, Charles Michel, and Chinese Premier Li Qiang had confirmed on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi their shared interest in holding a summit between Brussels and Beijing until the end of 2023.

"President Michel confirmed the shared interest to hold the EU-China Summit by the end of the year," the European Council said in a statement.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit, Michel and Li also discussed global challenges such as climate change and pandemics, as well as the Ukraine conflict and EU-China relations, the statement read.

In July, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said he hoped to travel to China this fall to discuss bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation after his visit was postponed twice. The trip was first pushed back in mid-April when Borrell tested positive for COVID-19 and was postponed again in July, allegedly due to then-Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang's health issues.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday proposed holding a virtual G20 leaders' summit before the end of India's presidency in November 2023.

"I propose that at the end of November, we hold a virtual G20 session. We will be able to review the issues addressed at this summit at that virtual session ... I hope you all will connect to the virtual session," Modi said at the final session of the G20 Summit in New Delhi.
