Six Teens Hospitalized After Shooting Near Colorado High School, 'Multiple' Suspects at Large

Colorado's Aurora Police Department is on the hunt for "multiple" suspects with ties to a Monday shooting that took place at a park near a local high school. Approximately six teenagers are being treated for gunshot wounds.

Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson confirmed during a Monday news conference that approximately six individuals were transported to local area hospitals, one of whom was undergoing emergency surgery.

At present, investigators are working the case with the belief that there are "multiple" suspects connected to the case.

The injured teens age between 14 and 18, and are all students enrolled at Colorado's Central High School, which sits a short distance from Nome Park - the crime scene.

Wilson detailed during the conference that shots were fired from a car, but also possibly from individuals on foot. A motive for the incident has not yet been determined.

Reports of the incident were initially relayed to the wider public via social media by the Aurora Police Department, which at the time had indicated that only five teenagers had been sent to area hospitals.

However, a subsequent update from officials revealed that a sixth teenager - aged 18 - had suffered "minor injuries" as a result of the shooting.

At the time, police also said the gunman was an "unknown suspect, who is no longer on the scene," noting that the nearby Central High School was on a "secure perimeter" security alert due to the incident.

Two of the students were treated at the UCHealth facility, which did not offer details on the patients.
