* Russian Minister of Transportation Igor Levitin will attend a consultation on the state of road works in the first half of 2005, which will be held in the Federal Road Agency at noon.

* News conferences:

- Russian Airborne Forces: the State and Prospects, with Colonel General Alexander Kolmakov, the forces' commander, at noon;

- The Way the Integrity of the Russian Legal Field Is Ensured - Legislation Monitoring Results, with Justice Ministry official Yevgeny Zabarchuk at 2:00 p.m.

* RIA Novosti will host the following news conferences:

- International Terrorism: The Current Situation and Ways to Overcome It at 1:30 p.m. President of the Institute for Religion and Politics Alexander Ignatenko, Ph. D., will focus on a series of terrorist acts around the world, including those at London and Sharm el-Sheikh.

* The Energia Space Corporation will host events marking the 30th anniversary of the Soyuz-Apollo flight at 1:00 p.m. The agenda includes a meeting with the crews of Soyuz-19 and Apollo, a briefing and a visitation to the Space Museum.

* The Russian Commerce and Industry Chamber's investment policy committee will convene for an extended session on the Debt Restructuring Problem and Its Impact on Companies' Investment Attraction at 10:00 a.m.

* A meeting of the Moscow Banking Union (MBU) will discuss the state of the Russian banking system, tasks to implement the strategy for improving Russian banks' competitiveness, the MBU's activity in 2004 and its cooperation with Moscow's administration, at 3:00 p.m.

* Moscow's Butyrsky Court is expected to continue the consideration of Muscovite Olga Kuznetsova's suit against McDonalds. She is suing for 100,400 rubles, or $3,500, after getting hot coffee spilled on her.

* Army General and Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Forces Vladimir Mikhailov will hold the main rehearsal of the World Aviation Legends performance at Monino airport in the Moscow region from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

ST. PETERSBURG

* The Severnaya Verf shipbuilding enterprise will host the opening ceremony for the construction of a guard ship. The Boyky (Brisk) corvette will become the third in a series of guard ships built at the enterprise for the Russian Navy.

UDMURTIA

* The State Commission on Chemical Disarmament will convene in the Udmurtia's (the Volga Federal District) Kambarka village to sum up the results of work in the year's first half and estimate prospects for implementing the second stage of the program on the elimination of chemical weapons. Members of the commission will also assess whether the chemical disposal facility will be ready to be put into operation in late 2005. This will be the second chemical disposal facility in Russia. The first, in the Gorny village of the Saratov region, commenced operations in December 2002.

MINSK

* The 19th session of the Interstate Council for Natural and Technogenic Emergencies will be held at the CIS headquarters from July 27-29.

YURMALA, LATVIA

* New Wave, an international young pop singers' competition, will take place from July 27-31.

SAN FRANCISCO, THE UNITED STATES

* The San Francisco District Court is expected to consider the case of Ukraine's former Prime Minister Pavel Lazarenko.

LONDON

* Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan will arrive in the United Kingdom for a two-day visit to hold talks with his British counterpart Tony Blair.

VIENTIANE

* Representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which includes Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, will meet with their East-Asian partners, China, Japan and South Korea, within the framework of an ASEAN session. The development of partnership is high on the agenda.
