This year's festival opened, March 24, to offer a spectacular sequence of shows. These were top achievements of all genres-drama, opera, ballet, puppet performances, musicals, operettas and modern dancing, staged in thirteen Russian cities. Twenty Moscow-based theaters hosted a total 43 productions.
This day, the closing, will see three Moscow endeavors-"Romeo and Juliet", the Moscow Operetta's musical; "The Staircase" of the drama company, Next to Stanislavsky House; and Richard Wagner's "The Flying Dutchman", one of the Bolshoi Opera's premieres of last year.
A gala at the Mossoviet Theater will name this year's Gold Mask winners tomorrow.
