MOSCOW, April 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is the only country which holds an online beauty contest of the international level. The winner of the Miss Universe, Russia-2005 who is to participate in the finals in Thailand will be selected by means of online, TV and cell-phone voting, Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper reports.
Russian Internet users and TV viewers will be able to vote for the most beautiful girl in Russia for the second time already. Last year the contest's Web site had over 40,000 visitors daily. Over 1 million votes were cast.
The contest's Web site (miss.rambler.ru.) was launched two weeks ago, however, the number of participants has exceeded the last year's amount by 100% and already totals over 2,000. Seven finalists will be selected by online voting.
