MOSCOW, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and the European Union have excellent opportunities for further foreign political team efforts, said Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, as he was opening negotiations with Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
"Our eye-to-eye talk has revealed fine opportunities to build up Russia-EU joint efforts in foreign politics," Mr. Lavrov remarked after the negotiators had a closed-door conference for half an hour.
"The talk allowed us to take stock of Russia-EU partnership progress, and of preparations for Russia-EU summitry in Moscow, May next," added the minister.
"Your visit to Russia confirms an intensive progress of our dialogue," he said to Senor Solana.
The CFSP, in his turn, said he was sure preparatory efforts for the May 10 summit were making good progress. "The summit itself, too, will be success, I am sure," he remarked.
