PIERRE CARDIN ON INTERNATIONAL PROSPECTS OF RUSSIAN COUTURIERS

PARIS, April 2 (RIA Novosti, Andrei Nizamutdinov) - Famous French couturier Pierre Cardin believes that his Russian colleagues have good international prospects.

Commenting on the major defile, which opened the Russian Fashion Week in Paris, he noted that Russian collections "were characterized by a big variety and creative approach."

According to Cardin, Russian fashion designers are striving "to combine traditions of the Russian national costume with modern trends and experiments with different materials and volumes."

This creativity meets modern fashion standards, Cardin emphasized.

In his opinion, Russian couturiers can find buyers abroad.

"Today fashion does not have its former dictatorship, it has become more liberal. People choose models and materials themselves and from this point of view Russian couturiers can have commercial prospects both in Russia and abroad," Pierre Cardin said.

Collections of seven Russian fashion houses and independent couturiers were presented at the Espace Cardin center in Paris. The shows will be also held at the Bristol Hotel and in a Paris gallery.
