MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin announces Russia is willing to assist the new Kyrgyz regime in stabilizing the situation in the country.

According to Russian President's press secretary Alexei Gromov, Vladimir Putin conducted a phone conversation with Kyrgyz interim president Kurmanbek Bakiyev yesterday.

"In response to Bakiyev's request, Vladimir Putin expressed readiness to discuss concrete measures aimed at assisting the new regime in stabilization of the situation in Kyrgyzstan, on the basis of humanitarian principles and friendly relations between the Russian and the Kyrgyz peoples," Gromov stated.

Russian president's press secretary underlined that the phone conversation had been initiated by Bakiyev.

Meanwhile, deputies of the previous and current parliaments in Kyrgyzstan argue the legitimacy of their status.

The only legitimate authority in Kyrgyzstan is the newly-elected parliament, believes coordinator of security-related structures of the republic Felix Kulov.

"If the new parliament resigns now, the republic will be left without any authority, and, if something happens, God forbid, there will be nobody to adopt legitimate decisions," Kulov announced during the session of the new parliament on Sunday. Yesterday, the Central Election Committee of Kyrgyzstan confirmed its authority.

Deputy Azimbek Bekhnazarov, one of the opposition leaders, earlier suggested that deputies of both old and new parliaments should resign in order to ensure stability in the country.
