BISHKEK, March 26 (RIA Novosti, Yulia Orlova) - Kyrgyzstan's new authorities will offer guarantees immunity to Askar Akayev, Acting President Kurmanbek Bakiyev said at a press conference in Bishkek.
According to the official, there is a law, which guaranteed immunity for Akayev as the first president. "We must comply with this law," he was quoted as saying.
"As for me, I have no intention to persecute Akayev. He will enter the history as the first president, who did much for the sovereignty of Kyrgyzstan," Bakiyev remarked.
The official aggregated that the Akayevs' private property is protected by Kyrgyzstan's law as anyone else's.
