It took him many months to study dozens of books and encyclopedias about the war. The crossword drawn on 21-meter long piece of paper includes names of the Great Patriotic War heroes, sites of big and small battles, cities and territories affected by military operations, models of Soviet and German planes, tanks, self-propelled guns, small-arms, cold steel arms, front utilities, etc.
A special commission of the local culture department checked the quality of Vorobchenko's work. Its members reaffirmed that the crossword really contained 60,000 words connected with the war and none of these words was repeated.
After that, Yevgeny Vorobchenko forwarded a letter and a video record of his masterpiece to the headquarters of the Guinness Book of World Records. Representatives of the Guinness Book asked him to send more pictures of the giant puzzle and a more detailed story about its contents. Vorobchenko hopes his achievement will be recorded by May 9, Victory Day.
The last officially registered crossword-making record was set by the Belyayev family from the Voronezh region (Russia). Their puzzle contains 64,371 words. It took them 7 years to make and edit this giant crossword. The authors believe that two years are needed to solve their puzzle.
