TEHRAN, March 19 (RIA Novosti's Nikolai Terekhov) - Iran agrees with the position of Russia, France, Germany and Spain on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, official spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Hamid Reza Asefi said on Saturday.

"We agree with the above-mentioned states that no country should give up peaceful trends in the development of nuclear technologies," he stressed.

"We expect Great Britain, France and Germany to keep sticking to their obligations and to respect Iran's right to possess peaceful nuclear technologies," Asefi said commenting on the statements issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, French President Jacques Chirac and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero at the summit in Paris.

"Iran has often claimed that it does not strive for possessing weapons of mass destruction and all Iranian nuclear programs have peaceful purposes," the Iranian diplomat noted.
