INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S JUDO FESTIVAL IN ST. PETERSBURG

ST. PETERSBURG, March 18 (RIA Novosti, Maxim Nichiporenko) - The Yubileiny sports center in St. Petersburg will host the 10th international children's judo festival on March 28.

About 1,000 athletes aged 10-15 from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Finland are expected to participate in the competitions, Vice President of the St. Petersburg Judo Federation Viktor Yakovlev told RIA Novosti.

Winners will get kimonos with the festival's emblem and valuable prizes.

"The festival helps promote judo in our city. Many people join judo clubs each time after such festivals," Yakovlev said.

The festival is organized by the St. Petersburg Judo Federation and the city administration.
