Tomorrow is a French night. Jean Guilloux of Paris, head organist of the Cathedrale de Saint Eustache, equally renowned as composer, music teacher and organ-maker, is playing at the Evgeni Svetlanov Hall.
James Edward Goettsche is to appear in Moscow the next day, March 17. Official organist of the San Pietro at the Vatican, he will introduce the Italian organ music school to Muscovites. As organist of the Santa Francesca at Rome's Forum, he was offering Sunday concerts every week for several decades. They came on a par with the most brilliant cultural events in the Italian capital.
Representing the British school is Simon Preston, one of the world's foremost organists. He has recorded all Bach organ compositions for the Deutsche Grammophon. His Moscow program presents Bach, Mendelssohn and Schumann.
