On Tuesday he sent a message to President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela, the Kremlin press service reports.
The Russian president notes the importance of bilateral relations becoming more dynamic and profound in recent time.
"We have many common positions on the principal questions of world politics. Russia and Venezuela come out for forming a democratic world order, supremacy of international law in resolving global and regional problems, collective search for answers to the XXI century challenges", the message reads.
The Russian president cites among the two countries' priorities the active development of trade-economic cooperation, including in energy, military-technical cooperation and other key sectors.
"We certainly have to promote the expansion of cultural and humanitarian contacts, open up new opportunities for direct contacts between our citizens", the presidential message stresses.
The Russian president expressed confidence that Russian-Venezuelan partnership will "go on to develop in an on-ward and efficient manner to the good of the two states, serve the strengthening of friendship and trust between our peoples".
In turn, Mr. Hugo Chavez has sent a message to Mr. Vladimir Putin.
According to the Kremlin press service the message reads: "Within the framework of the strategic alliance, established between our countries on May 14, 2001 and initiating positive dynamics in the development of our relations, it has become possible to reinvigorate the political dialog, broaden economic contacts and prove in deed that we have common goals".
