MOSCOW TO HOST INTERNATIONAL JAZZ CONTEST, MARCH 21-27

MOSCOW, March 9 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow is holding a maiden international contest of jazz pianists, March 21 through 27.

A great many recordings have been sent to the contest, which has no open initial round. The twenty performers who have got through this elimination round will meet in the second, says Daniil Kramer, Merited Actor of Russia and jury president.

Top-notch pianists are on the jury. Representing the host country on it are Daniil Kramer, Igor Bril and Anatoli Kroll.

The contest, of March 23, 24 and 26, will bring together musicians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, France, Indonesia, Poland, Ukraine and the UK.

The winner is getting a gold medal and $10,000. Eight thousand dollars is coming with silver, and six thousand with bronze. All finalists who win no prizes will receive honor certificates and a thousand dollars each.
