RUSSIA, NATO TO HOLD ANTIMISSILE DEFENSE EXERCISES

BRUSSELS, March 9 (RIA Novosti's Alexander Shishlo) - On March 14 through 23, the second command-and-staff exercises in theater antimissile defense Collaborative Arrow 2005 under the aegis of the Russia-NATO Council will be held at the De Peel air base in The Netherlands.

Over 50 representatives of Russia and ten NATO countries will participate, the North Atlantic Alliance press service said on Wednesday.

The first such exercises under the same aegis were held in Colorado Springs, the United States, in March 2004. Russia will host the third military game in the first half of 2006.

More than three million euros has been allocated for study of operative compatibility of the sides' military-technical capacity.

The Alliance views Collaborative Arrow 2005 as a new important stage in deepening practical cooperation between NATO and Russia.
