ST.PETERSBURG, March 7 (RIA Novosti, Maxim Nichiporenko) -The Red Star race track in the Leningrad Region's Vsevolozhsky district is hosting Russia's ice auto racing cup finals on Monday.

According to Vadim Muzychuk, a top category referee in charge of the event, the competition is held in two groups of vehicles: "1,600", comprising two-wheel drive cars with engine capacity not more than 1.6 liters, and "freestyle", featuring four-wheel drive cars with engine capacity of up to 3 liters.

Three races of six 1.5-km laps each are to be held in both groups. The tally of drivers' two best results in three races will reveal the winner.

Muzychuk pointed out that about 20 cars are to start off in each of the groups.

The competition features two women drivers - Olga Klepatska (1,600 group) and Tatyana Yeliseyeva (freestyle group).

"The fact that women drivers are taking part in our competition is of special significance for us on the eve of the Women's Day (celebrated in Russia on March 8)," Muzychuk noted.

In addition, also on March 7, the Red Star racetrack is going to host a stage of the Russian "Ice Cup - 2005" ice auto racing series.
