CHISINAU, March 5 (RIA Novosti) - Staffers of the consulate section of the Russian embassy in Moldova have confirmed the fact of detainment of 100 Russian nationals on the Bulbak station, an official of the Russian embassy in Chisinau told RIA Novosti.

"The local police have taken the Russians' passports. The answer to the consulate employees' question why the nationals of the Russian Federation have been detained was 'they have failed to say why they are in Moldova'", the diplomat said.

It is not clear what the police are going to do next, the consulate section said. Policemen could not explain and, "to all appearances, are waiting for instructions from Chisinau", the interviewee said.

Russian diplomats went to the station to help the Russians in the conflict situation and see what is what.

On Saturday the CIS Election Monitoring Organization has said that 100 Russian nationals mostly from St.Petersburg are facing deportation. "Now, the Russian nationals, women among them, are kept in closed and unheated railway cars on the Bulbak station on the border", reads the organization's press release, which has come to hand at RIA Novosti.

As reported by the head of the CIS EMO mission, closer to midnight the two cars with the Russians will be connected to a train bound for St.Petersburg. "Actually, the 100 Russian nationals will be deported", the press release says.

On Saturday the Moldovan authorities have deported 46 Belarussian observers, says the press release.
