NIZHNY NOVGOROD, February 12 (RIA Novosti) - Sites for technoparks ought to be selected through a competitive tender, Russian Education and Science Minister Andrei Fursenko told a press conference held in the Sarov Federal Nuclear Center until recently known as Arzamas-15.

According to him, the conditions of such a tender must be comprehensive, taking into account all relevant factors - from the proposed technopark's location to its research potential.

"The criteria of such a tender must be fully transparent and clear to all bidders, so that no one had any doubts about the reasons for the victor's success," the Minister said.

Sergei Kiriyenko, the presidential envoy in the Volga Federal District, who also attended the press conference said that the Nizhny Novgorod Region could accommodate a number of technical innovation areas (for example, in the town of Satis and at Lobachevsky State University in Nizhny Novgorod) as well as a few advanced industrial production areas (for example, in the Borsk district and at the Gorky Automobile Works).

"We have over 100 innovation projects capable of attracting up to $1.5 billion in investments and, if implemented, yielding about $2 billion in sales. Our primary task today is to use this potential to full advantage," Sergei Kiriyenko said.
