MOSCOW, December 17 (RIA Novosti) - Selling Yuganskneftegaz by auction is Russia's domestic affair, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said.

"Some or other decision is taken into account, first of all, by foreign companies and banks, which may be potentially involved in this transaction. But our position is that this is our domestic affair and it is determined by economic expediency and decisions made earlier," the premier was quoted as saying.

The Russian government is analyzing the situation of Yuganskneftegaz's auction sale which developed after the U.S. court's ruling, the premier reported.

"The issue is being considered now. We said earlier that we abode by laws of the Russian Federation, and this is our guiding principle," Mr. Fradkov pointed out.

According to the official, the final decision has not been made. This is rather a complicated process, which needs to be worked through.

The final decision must be taken after the situation has been thoroughly analyzed.

The auction has been scheduled for December 19.

The Southern District Bankruptcy Court of Texas ruled that all transactions with Yukos assets must be suspended. This decision also concerns the auction sale of Yuganskheftegaz due on December 19.

In accordance with Yukos's press release, the company had applied to the court of Houston for permission to suspend the auction sale of Yukos's main extraction enterprise, Yuganskneftegaz.

The court's decision will be effective within 10 days, during which the front office of the Russian company can claim prolongation.
