MOSCOW, November 27 (RIA Novosti) - Vice Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vladimir Pekhtin believes that the Ukrainian Supreme Rada's decision to reject the results of the presidential poll is illegitimate.

"The Central Election Commission's decision should not be considered by the Supreme Rada. According to the law, only the Central Election Commission can declare the election results invalid," Mr. Pekhtin said commenting on the decision of the Ukrainian parliament.

He believes this decision was made under pressure.

On Saturday the Supreme Rada issued a statement on the political situation in the country and declared the November 21 voting had been held with violations and did not meet the people's will. Moreover, the Ukrainian deputies also passed a vote of no-confidence in the Central Election Commission.

The issue of the winner of the presidential poll should not be discussed, said leader of the United Russia party, State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov.

"The Supreme Rada can discuss only such technical issues as the candidacy of the Prime Minister, the constitutional reforms, etc.," Mr. Gryzlov said at the United Russia congress on Saturday.

"Viktor Yanukovich was elected Ukrainian President and the Central Election Commission announced his victory," Mr. Gryzlov emphasized.
