MOSCOW, November 26 (RIA Novosti) - Venezuela will buy a big batch of Russian submachine guns, helicopters, anti-tank and air-defense weapons, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said.

It will be a hundred thousand Russian submachine guns, he said.

"We will buy Russian guns. Venezuela is not going to invade anybody's territory. It is strengthening its own armed forces in the face of any aggression. Venezuela will by one hundred thousand Russian submachine guns," Mr. Chavez said.

It will also be the transfer of technologies so as Venezuela can be able itself to manufacture weapons (submachine guns), ammunition and do maintenance, he said.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez expressed confidence that in 2005 Russia will supply combat helicopters to Venezuela.

"I'm sure that in 2005 Russia will supply to Venezuela excellent Russian helicopters. I'll myself try to fly one and then will invite you to fly with me," Mr. Chavez told the Russian president (they were on close terms with each other).

"We have voiced the desire to buy a big batch of Russian anti-tank and air-defense weapons," Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said after talks with Vladimir Putin.

The president of Venezuela noted that his country has what to offer to Russia. "We have good sardines, which Russians like very much," Mr. Chavez said. They are very good to combat cholesterol, which is especially important in the Russian climate, he said.

Venezuela is at one with Russia in the struggle against terrorism. "We are in solidarity with Russia in combating terrorism. Terrorism exists in our country, too," the Venezuelan president said.

"When I was packing to fly to Moscow, a terrorist act took the life of a tax inspector who was investigating the coups in 2002 and 2003. He died in a bomb explosion," Mr. Chavez said.

"We share this struggle [against terrorism] and will continue it together," stressed the Venezuelan president.
