MOSCOW, October 23 (RIA Novosti) - The 17th Russian Antique Show is opening in Moscow on Saturday.

It will feature an impressive collection of Russian academic art (paintings by Makovsky, Vasilyev, Aivazovsky, Orlovsky, Bogolyubov) and Russian modern art pieces (Suyetin, Lentulov, Drevnin).

Pictures by Dirck Maas and Peter Breigel will be prominent in the collection of west European art. There will also be a collection of Dutch paintings of the 17th century, which includes pictures by Peter Freese, Peter van Asch and other prominent artists, which were signed and dated by them.

Court-style empire furniture and decorative and applied art pieces made in Russia and Western Europe will also be on display as usual.

Organisers have arranged thematic expositions. "The Avant-garde of the 1910-1930s. Private Collection" stand, for example, will feature a collection entitled "From Suprematism to Constructivism" that will offer two rare albums and collages, "Global War," and "1918. Reinforced Concrete Poems," that came out in 1916 and 1917 respectively in print runs of 100 copies. An exposition devoted to Nikolai Krymov (1884-1958) is yet another event of the show. The exposition will feature drawings from his album of sketches of the late 1900s and early 1910s. Many of them are sketches to his pictures.

A keen interest in art of the Soviet period had prompted organisers to make an exposition they called "50 Years of Soviet Art." It covers the period from 1920 to the 1970s.

An exhibit and fair of classical automobiles, which includes six Mercedes and Jaguar models of the 1950s and 1970s, will take place on the sidelines of the Antique Show. On sale will be unique cars and motorcycles made in the 1930s and 1950s and a collection of technological antiques.

Besides, visitors will enjoy the "Private Collection of Weapons in Pre-Revolution Russia" from St Petersburg's Military History Museum of the Artillery, Engineer, and Liaison Forces.
