MOSCOW

* Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov will visit the Infocom-2004 (Russia's information communications) 4th international exposition.

* A State Duma session will open at 10 a.m.

The deputies are to consider the draft law on the ratification of the Kyoto protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the draft law on the ratification of the protocol on the partnership and cooperation agreement between the Russian Federation and European communities and their member-states, in view of the accession of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia to the European Union.

* The Russian Council for Education Development will hold a session on prospects of education and science integration at the modern stage. Those participating will be representatives of the Russian Education and Science Ministry, Academy of Sciences, State Duma, Federation Council, and education workers. They are to discuss legal and economic aspects of this process.

* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host the following press conferences:

- with head of the federal forestry agency Valery Roshchupkin on the 2nd Russian-Finnish forest summit in Finland on October 26;

- with representatives of the New Choice-2004 coalition entitled "The Ukrainian community before the presidential elections: facts, commentaries and expert assessments".

* The AIF-Novosti will host the following press conferences:

- with State Duma deputy Viktor Alksnis on the activities of the union of committees of Russia's soldiers' mothers and national interests of the country;

- with chairman of the State Duma security committee Vladimir Vasilyev on anti-terrorism legislative initiatives and public control over law enforcement bodies and special services.

* Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will pay a private visit to Moscow and present the Russian edition ofher book "Mrs. State Secretary". She will answer questions of readers and journalists.

* Russia's Mail general director Igor Syrtsov will give a press conference on new mail technologies at the Infocom-2004 (Russia's information communications) 4th international exposition.

* President of the Russian Football Union Vyacheslav Koloskov will give a press conference after a session of the union's executive committee in the premises of the Russian Olympic Committee.

VOLGA-URAL MILITARY DISTRICT

* Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will discuss the formation of the first Russian peacekeeping brigade in Orenburg during his routine visit to the Volga-Ural military district. Moreover, the minister is to observe military exercises in the Orenburg region.

ST. PETERSBURG

* Director General of the World Health Organization Dr. Lee Chong-wook, currently in Russia, will visit St. Petersburg.

CHERKESSK

* A joint session of members of the State Duma commission for the North Caucasus and the Karachai-Circassian leadership will take place.

ALMA ATA

* Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will participate in a ministerial session of the Conference on Interaction and Trust Measures in Asia. Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan will participate in the session. They are to adopt the Conference's charter.

DUSHANBE

* Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev will participate in a joint session of boards of Russian and Tajik law enforcement bodies.

KIEV

* Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko will participate in the 16th session of the top-level group for the formation of the Common Economic Space of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
